1-2 geese should have an area of 1 sq. m. But it is impossible to keep birds in the poultry house all the time. They have to walk, so next to the goose house, you need to arrange a corral in which the geese will walk. You need to release birds into it every day. They should spend about 8 hours in it. In the pen you need to put a container for water.

In addition to temperature and humidity, you need to provide the geese with proper lighting and ventilation. Daylight hours should last at least 12 hours, both in summer and winter. Every day, the room needs to be ventilated or a ventilation system installed in the house. In order for the geese to be able to lay eggs, you need to put nests in the house - one for 2 birds.

How to feed the birds?

Geese of the Mamut breed differ in that they consume no more than 95 kg of feed until adulthood, which is considered a small volume. Adult birds can be fed with mixtures of grains of different types, finely ground, with the addition of herbs, boiled or fresh grated vegetables, root vegetables. The mash must be moist. In addition to the main components, it is necessary to replenish the mixtures with premixes, chalk and salt.

For the first 1.5 weeks, small goslings are fed with mixtures of boiled eggs, herbs, and chopped cereals. Then boiled potatoes are added to them. From 3 weeks of age, goslings can be transferred to feeding with food for an adult bird.

Grown-up goslings and adult mamut geese can be fed with poultry compound feed. It is nutritious, fully satisfies the needs of the bird, and is economical. When feeding with mixtures or compound feed, geese should always have water in the drinkers.

Breeding subtleties

Purebred mamut goslings are obtained only from purebred geese and ganders. Taking into account that the females of the breed do not differ in manifestations of the incubation instinct, it is necessary to hatch the chicks in an incubator. Subject to the rules of incubation, the percentage of hatching goslings reaches 85%.

Geese of the Danish breed Mamut suffer from infectious diseases and helminthiases. The reasons most often lie in non-compliance with the conditions of detention and care.

If the bird is on a damp and dirty bed, eats from dirty feeders, lives in a cramped room, then infections spread very quickly.

If a sick bird is found, it is necessary to immediately isolate it from the rest so that the infection does not spread further. Antibiotics are used for treatment. The course of therapy is carried out until the bird is fully recovered. It is impossible to diagnose and treat on your own; the veterinarian must establish the cause and treatment regimen.

In addition to infections, mamut can be sick with non-infectious diseases - hypovitaminosis, digestive disorders, metabolic diseases. The causes of pathologies are considered to be improper feeding, unbalanced in nutrients. To eliminate the causes, you need to revise the diet, introduce new feed into it. After a while, the problem should be resolved.

Adult geese may suffer from prolapse of the oviduct, this is due to the fact that they lay large eggs. Another common problem is esophageal obstruction due to feeding with dry food. This problem can be avoided by feeding the bird with wet bourgeois women, and even in this case, there should always be clean water in the house. When feeding with compound feed, this condition is mandatory.

Danish mamut geese are profitable in breeding. They eat little, grow quickly, have a lot of weight. Geese are bred for their own consumption or they organize a small goose farm, which will provide financial profit.
